We are seeking a Manufacturing Accountant to join our team. This individual will be pivotal in ensuring accurate cost analysis, financial reporting, and product pricing within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role involves working closely with operations to track key performance metrics, manage labor and overhead costs, and maintain inventory accuracy.

responsibilities:
- Analyze and resolve discrepancies related to job costing by reviewing daily production and labor data, ensuring timely closure and accuracy of job records.
- Track labor distribution to manufacturing jobs, verifying timecard entries against production hours to confirm proper allocation.
- Manage the tracking of raw materials and ingredients to ensure that all inventory adjustments, waste, and spoilage are accurately reported.
- Develop cost structures for new products, factoring in machine utilization, labor, and material expenses based on batch or production run sizes.
- Liaise with floor and production managers to assess factors affecting operational efficiency, including scrap rates, downtime, and process improvements.
- Support the pricing review process by providing cost analysis and contributing to the implementation of price adjustments for existing products.
- Conduct periodic inventory reconciliations, ensuring accurate physical stock counts and proper inventory valuation.
- Utilize production data from the company's MES system to create meaningful reports that drive operational decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date labor cost standards within the ERP system to ensure consistency in financial reporting.
- Prepare detailed productivity reports on labor performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide support to the finance team by assisting with AR, AP, and payroll processing as needed.
- Help with the month-end closing process, including posting journal entries, conducting reconciliations, and providing support to the Controller.
- Assist with additional ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the finance team.
qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing accounting, cost analysis, and inventory management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
