Randstad is seeking a Lead, Accountant that will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and oversight to Staff Accountants, reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting. In addition, this role will identify trends, variances, and opportunities through financial analysis to help inform strategic business decisions.
This opportunity is ideal for a detail-driven accounting professional with strong technical acumen, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly. While this is not a formal supervisory position, the ability to mentor junior team members and influence financial operations is essential to success in this role.

responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Supervise daily activities of the accountings, assigning responsibilities to optimize efficiency, maintain quality control, and meet all internal deadlines.
- Prepare, review, and post adjusting journal entries with thorough documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and maintain supporting schedules and perform monthly reconciliations for key general ledger accounts.
- Conduct quarterly balance sheet reviews and reconciliations to validate financial integrity.
- Analyze and report on cash flow activity to assist in strategic financial planning and liquidity management.
- Ensure accurate and timely allocation of expenses to the correct budgeted general ledger accounts.
- Monitor open purchase orders and maintain complete and accurate accounts payable records.
- Record and reconcile daily bank deposits and related entries as needed.
- Track contract deliverables and follow up to ensure compliance with timelines and requirements.
- Serve as a key liaison during internal and external audits by gathering and submitting requested documentation in a timely manner.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in general ledger management.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting standards and regulations.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in all work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Comfortable in a hands-on accounting environment with the ability to lead by example.
- Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor, train, and support junior staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
