The Accounting Manager will be a key player in managing the accounting functions for payroll, debt, and fixed assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards. This leadership position will oversee a team of Accounting professionals, driving efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the department. The successful candidate will excel in a high-volume, fast-paced Shared Services environment and contribute to enhancing internal controls, process improvements, and overall team growth and performance.

responsibilities:
Fixed Asset Cycle Management
- Asset Acquisition & Capitalization: Record asset purchases, ensure proper classification, and track costs.
- Fixed Asset Register Maintenance: Maintain detailed asset records, reconcile with the general ledger, and ensure accurate tracking of assets.
- Depreciation & Amortization: Calculate and record periodic depreciation, adjust depreciation schedules, and ensure compliance.
- Impairment & Revaluation: Assess assets for impairment, record adjustments as needed.
- Disposals & Retirements: Record asset disposals, recognize gains or losses, and update financial records accordingly.
- Reporting & Financial Analysis: Prepare reconciliations, analyze asset utilization, and support financial disclosures related to fixed assets.
- Payroll Expense Recording: Accurately record payroll expenses, including wages, salaries, and bonuses, in the general ledger.
- Journal Entries & Accruals: Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, including accruals for wages, taxes, and benefits.
- Payroll Tax Accounting: Calculate and record payroll taxes
- General Ledger Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll-related accounts, such as wages payable, payroll tax liabilities, and benefits accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure payroll expenses are accurately reflected in financial statements.
- Deductions & Benefit Accounting: Record employee deductions (health insurance, 401(k), garnishments) and employer contributions in the general ledger.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare payroll-related reports for audits and ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
- Debt Issuance & Recording: Record the issuance of debt instruments in the general ledger, ensuring proper classification as current or long-term liabilities.
- Interest Expense Calculation & Accruals: Calculate and record interest expenses on outstanding debt and accrue interest expenses between payment dates.
- Debt Repayments & Refinancing: Record debt repayments, including principal and interest payments, and adjust balances for refinancing or debt restructuring transactions.
- Debt Covenants Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with debt covenants and report covenant status in financial statements.
- Amortization of Debt Issuance Costs: Record and amortize debt issuance costs over the life of the debt.
- Reporting & Financial Disclosures: Prepare accurate debt-related disclosures for financial reporting, including interest expenses, outstanding debt, and covenant compliance.
- Debt Restructuring & Defaults: Manage the accounting for debt modifications, including restructuring and renegotiation of terms, and record any defaults or events of default.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on payroll, debt, and fixed assets accounting is required.
- Must have proven leadership experience, managing and developing teams.
- Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced Shared Services environment.
- Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
