Tatum by Randstad is recruiting for a Senior Technical Accountant that has a mix of public accounting and publicly traded mining company experience. The ideal Consultant will be responsible for providing expert guidance on complex accounting issues and ensuring compliance with both domestic and international accounting standards. A strong knowledge of the mining industry will be critical in managing and overseeing technical accounting matters specific to the sector.
The compensation range for this fully remote contract role is $55/hr. to $65/hr. with flexibility based on experience and is an immediate need!

responsibilities:
- Provide technical accounting support for complex transactions, including but not limited to revenue recognition, asset impairments, joint ventures, and cost capitalizations, specifically within the context of the mining industry.
- Work closely with the finance and operations teams to ensure proper accounting treatment for exploration, development, and production activities.
- Interpret and apply accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP) related to the mining sector, including guidance on resource depletion, environmental liabilities, and mine restoration obligations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements specific to the mining industry.
- Support in the preparation for audits, liaising with external auditors to address any technical accounting concerns and ensure the accurate presentation of financial results.
- Provide technical training to internal teams on accounting matters related to mining operations and related financial reporting.
- Support in managing any complex or non-routine accounting projects as they arise.
qualifications:
- 5+ years of technical accounting experience with a good mix of public accounting and publicly traded company experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical accounting, specifically within the mining industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA highly desired.
- Strong understanding of mining-specific accounting issues, including cost capitalization, resource depletion, joint venture arrangements, and environmental and reclamation liabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP, with specific experience applying them within the mining industry.
- Experience creating various technical accounting memos and improving disclosure writing.
- Able to articulate knowledge of Internal Controls, SOX and GAAP.
