The Director of Collections is responsible for evaluating and implementing strategies that drive profitable growth while keeping credit risk within acceptable boundaries. This role requires strong analytical skills to convert business goals into data-driven frameworks and develop solutions that effectively balance various performance metrics.

responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement strategies to minimize portfolio risk.
- Establish key performance indicators to track portfolio performance.
- Develop and enhance loss forecasting models, including timing curves, to measure and monitor portfolio trends.
- Create and refine delinquency forecasting models for staffing and budgeting of collection agencies.
- Formulate testing frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of collection strategies.
- Analyze portfolio trends and identify opportunities to improve underwriting policies.
- Develop and execute strategies to maximize recovery income.
- Expand recovery efforts across multiple channels, including legal proceedings and debt sales.
- Track and assess recovery performance, focusing on recovery timelines.
- Assist in the development of custom credit scoring models.
- Support securitization activities, including responding to data requests from rating agencies and participating in roadshows.
- Handle ad-hoc data analysis requests as needed.
qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Statistics (Master's degree preferred).
- At least 8 years of experience in the consumer lending industry.
- Strong background in credit risk management, collections, and recovery processes.
- Experience working in advanced quantitative environments within student loans, personal loans, or credit card industries.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SAS, and SQL.
