Director of Finance & Assistant Controller
A well-established publicly traded investment firm is seeking a Director of Finance & Assistant Controller to join its team.
Key Highlights:
- Seeking a well-rounded finance leader with SEC reporting and valuation experience.
- Ideal candidates will have been a Controller at a smaller investment firm with public company exposure or an Assistant Controller at a mid-size to large firm.
- Strong succession potential-this role is positioned to step into the VP Finance/Corporate Controller position within 12-18 months.
This role will oversee external SEC reporting, internal management reporting, valuation oversight ($5B+ portfolio), FP&A, and technical accounting. It involves leading a team across FP&A, SEC reporting, and valuation functions, collaborating with treasury, tax, investor relations, and general ledger accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead SEC and regulatory reporting (10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, etc.).
- Participate in the Valuation Committee, reviewing valuations for a $5B+ portfolio.
- Oversee financial reporting for Audit Committee & Board meetings.
- Manage FP&A functions, including budgeting, forecasting, business analytics, and valuation models.
- Drive technical accounting research for strategic initiatives.
- Guide teams in SOX compliance and regulatory audits.
qualifications:
Qualifications:
- CPA required; Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably with direct lending or credit strategies.
- Big 4 experience with SEC-registered clients OR experience in a publicly traded financial services institution.
- Expertise in ASC 820, public reporting requirements, and investment company accounting principles.
- Team leadership experience and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
