NYS-listed manufacturing company is growing their accounting department and seeking a Senior Cost Accountant for a newly created position due to growth.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented senior level accountant beginning their career in public accounting with a focus on manufacturing clients or subsequent industry experience including manufactory accounting.

responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly manufacturing entity financial statements to provide accurate and timely reporting and analysis, with comparisons to and variance analysis against prior year, budget, and forecast
- Prepare or assist with annual standard costing updates in accounting system
- Prepare or assist with all aspects of inventory such as product costing, physical inventory/cycle count programs, manufacturing variance analysis, etc. for both purchased goods and company owned manufacturing
- Perform distribution and assessment cycles within SAP, including the creation and mainenance of cost centers and profit centers
- Prepare, review and analyze standard and actual costs for variances and prepare reports
- Study and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as material purchases, inventory and labor
- Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation, analyzing inventory for risk, and monitoring with support from internal stakeholders
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing by analyzing inventory and preparing supplemental reports as needed
qualifications:
- Proficiency in Excel, experience in manipulating large databases a plus
- Significant hands-on experience using an integrated ERP system
- Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory and cost accounting
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Extraordinary interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with other departments.
- Must be a team player who also works well independently.
- Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results, and make recommendations.
