responsibilities:
- Support Target Identification and Evaluation - Work with cross-functional and inter-organizational teams of research scientists to apply, refine, and expand established workflows for effective multi-omic data curation and analysis.
- Curation and Analysis of Genetics Data - The role will have a heavy emphasis on the curation and analysis of genetics data.
- Evaluate Experimental Design and QC - Critically evaluate experimental design, quality control (QC), and suggest improvements.
- Develop and Execute Bioinformatics Workflows - Construct and execute bioinformatics workflows for the analysis of genetic data.
- NGS Data Integration - Analyze and integrate Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data for genetic research.
- Ensure Code Reproducibility - Manage and maintain reproducibility of bioinformatics code through tools like GitHub.
qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Master's degree with 2+ years of experience or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Genetics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in R and/or Python programming for bioinformatics workflows.
- Experience working in High-Performance Computing (HPC) and cloud environments.
- Experience with code reproducibility, e.g., managing GitHub repositories.
- Demonstrated experience in the analysis and integration of NGS data.
- Proficiency in operating in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Experience with genome-wide association studies (GWAS), particularly fine mapping and QTL colocalization from GWAS summary data.
- Familiarity with rare disease genetics resources and biomedical ontologies.
- Ability to critically evaluate experimental design, QC, and suggest improvements.
- Familiarity with methods to prioritize genes per GWAS locus with multiple lines of evidence.
- Prior research experience in immunological diseases.
- Experience with Nextflow.
