Electrical Protection and Controls Engineer opportunity with a client located in this client's Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC office. This position will provide substation protection and control design, engineering, and technical support as part of a transmission substation engineering and design team. You will work on a wide range of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations. The client offers a solid benefits plan. responsibilities:
- Create substation Protection and Control design project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projects
- Design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line, capacitor and transformer protection schemes and associated settings
- Create and improve processes for P&C designs, including P&C one- and three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel drawings and wiring diagrams
- Create quality control checklists for substation P&C design project scopes, estimates, budgets, one lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, settings, relays, and SCADA
- Perform calculations and studies using client specified software and standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Approximately 8 or more years of experience with 5 or more years of experience directly within Protection and Control
- Proficient in the design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line capacitor and transformer design, and protection schemes and associated settings
- Ability to read, interpret, design, and engineer Protection and Control designs for utility stations through 500kV
- Ability to perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, and insulation coordination
- Understanding of SCADA communication design
