An Electrical Controls Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This position requires hands-on experience in installing, troubleshooting, and managing production equipment while supervising technicians and contract trades to ensure efficient operations.

responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
- Supervise contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades during installation processes.
- Conduct troubleshooting, process start-up, and documentation for electrical and control systems.
- Modify existing documentation, including drawing packages and installation checklists.
- Modify machine control programs for various equipment types, including robotics and PLC-controlled systems.
- Execute initial equipment set-up and debug until turnover to operations.
- Provide third-level troubleshooting support and direct trades for component replacement.
- Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
- Develop electrical installation checklists and schedules, overseeing their usage.
- Prepare work orders and direct personnel in equipment assembly, testing, and installation.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities.
- strong practical hands-on aptitude and electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability are essential.
- Knowledge of motion control, process variables, current loops, and serial communication protocols is required.
- Familiarity with equipment and software including AutoCAD 2023, Allen-Bradley PLC, and electronic test equipment is preferred.
- Position requires BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS in Mechanical Engineering, or
- BS in Project Management.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience is required.
