Structural Analysis Engineer contract opportunity with a client located in the San Jose, CA area. This position will provide structural analysis and design evaluation to help solve this client's high temperature mechanical components and enclosure problems through the development of FEA models for sheet metal assembly using Abaqus and Hypermesh to support design qualification plans.

responsibilities:
- Provide structural analysis and design evaluation to solve cell mechanical components and enclosure problems
- Develop models for sheet metal assembly using FEA commercial packages such as Abaqus and Hypermesh to support design qualification plans
- Proactively communicate the design issues with the modeling team and propose solutions
- Interface with cross-functional teams, create reports, and present modeling results regularly
- Other duties as assigned
- Masters Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with background in Finite Element Analysis
- Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of strength of materials
- Approximately 5 or more years in stress analysis & meshing packages, preferably in Abaqus and Hypermesh
- Experience performing finite element structural analysis for non-linear stress-strain relationships, contact, sheet metal components, rivets, and bolted joints
- Skilled in handling complex 3-D geometry, grid generation, and post-processing
- High temperature thermo-structural analysis experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
