Large utility is looking for a Civil Project engineer in Howell, MI. This position will oversee the design, contracting, and construction phases of various industrial projects, ensuring technical quality, safety, and compliance with civil engineering standards while frequently visiting job sites and providing project updates. responsibilities:
- Provide regular project updates to supervisor on project status, risks to scope, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Work in a heavy industrial environment, often with loud, hot, and oily conditions.
- Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, enter small/tight spaces, and navigate rough construction grades.
- Travel to construction projects frequently (3-5 days per week).
- Site visits for tasks like kick-off meetings, pre-bid walkdowns, construction quality inspections, milestone checks, and red-line walkdowns.
- Working knowledge in civil design, including:
- Site design, stormwater management, pre-engineered metal building design, foundation design, storage tank design, and environmental permitting.
- Design experience in one or more of these topics is preferred.

- Experience with contract document preparation (engineering drawings and technical specifications) for consulting and construction services.
- Familiarity with Civil/Structural codes (e.g., IBC/MBC, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, ASCE 7).
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to work independently.

- Leadership in engineering settings.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
