A Hardware Design Engineer is needed for an American multinational technology company that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services in the Raleigh, NC area. The role involves executing silicon validation and characterization for high-speed D2D and SERDES interfaces, developing test methods, collaborating with design teams, and analyzing test results to ensure product performance and reliability.

responsibilities:
- Execute silicon validation and characterization of high-performance, high-speed, low-power CMOS D2D and SERDES silicon interfaces
- Bring up, validate, and characterize high-speed D2D and SERDES blocks on new and existing silicon chips
- Develop test methods to evaluate performance and determine operating margins of high-speed serial interfaces under various conditions
- Collaborate with design teams to enhance testability and define test infrastructure logic
- Write software routines in Python, C/C++, and similar languages to validate D2D and SERDES IPs, and work with software teams on driver integration
- Analyze test results, document findings, and provide insights and recommendations for improvements
- 8-10 years of experience in silicon validation, characterization, or a related field
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (MSFT experience is a plus but not required)
- Must have hands-on experience in silicon testing and characterization
- Ideal candidates demonstrate experience in high-speed D2D and SERDES architecture, test methodologies, and debugging
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience working with D2D and SERDES platforms
- In-depth knowledge of high-speed D2D and SERDES architectures (e.g., NRZ, PAM4) and protocols
- Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and BERTs
- strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience with SERDES calibration and signal integrity
- Familiarity with high-speed protocols (e.g., UCIe, Ethernet, PCIe)
- Ability to write comprehensive test reports and analyze boundary conditions
- Minimum 8 years of experience in bring-up, validation, and characterization of high-speed D2D and SERDES blocks
- Minimum 8 years of experience developing test methods for high-speed serial interfaces
- Minimum 8 years of experience writing software routines (Python, C/C++) for validation and integration with drivers
