A Senior Buyer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Reston, VA area. The Senior Buyer oversees the procurement, negotiation, and administration of multimillion-dollar contracts for complex mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance, supplier performance, and alignment with project goals while mentoring team members and optimizing procurement processes.

responsibilities:

- Review prime contract requirements and oversee development of project purchasing pro-forma forms, including legal and commercial terms.
- Incorporate inputs from Engineering, Construction, Finance, Logistics, Insurance, Tax, and other functional groups into procurement documents.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain smooth processes.
- Organize and lead Procurement-sponsored meetings.
- Establish and maintain key supplier relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance for compliance with order requirements and manage claims or disputes.
- Mentor less experienced team members in procurement processes, policies, and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of training programs for purchasing personnel.
- Proficiency in procurement, contract management, supplier relationship management, and cost analysis.
- strong understanding of power/nuclear industry trends and technical specifications.
- Skilled in negotiation, risk management, and resolution of claims and disputes.
- Expertise in procurement systems like Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS) and Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- strong communication and collaboration abilities across multiple functional groups.
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 10-13 years of relevant experience or
- 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
