A Senior Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a company that delivers photonics innovation to enable breakthrough advancements in technology that transform the way the world connects, creates, and interacts in the Wichita, KS area. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will lead and contribute to product quality, process optimization, and cost reduction initiatives, with a focus on New Product Introduction, design for manufacturability, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners in a dynamic, high-complexity manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:
- Lead comprehensive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Service (DFS) activities from initiation to R&D implementation.
- Recommend and implement design changes to enhance manufacturability and serviceability.
- Develop strategic manufacturing processes to support new product introductions.
- Create manufacturing process capacity models for effective production planning.
- Participate in and/or lead technical teams as needed.
- Define, specify, and communicate quality expectations through standardized specifications and work instructions.
- Research, evaluate, justify, and recommend capital equipment for manufacturing.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes for complex product hardware.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement product and process improvements.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Demonstrated success in product and process cost reduction.
- Expertise in failure analysis of complex systems and components.
- Proficiency with Creo and/or SolidWorks preferred.
- Ability to work independently and achieve results in a dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Material Sciences Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a technology-driven, low-volume/high-mix/high-complexity industry.
