An EHS Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This role provides day-to-day support for the Materials Laboratory by managing safety inspections, hazardous waste operations, and assisting with materials testing and high-temperature experiments, while ensuring compliance with EHS regulations.

responsibilities:
- Support lab management in safety-related tasks and initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and document findings using Gensuite EHS software.
- Discuss inspection results with management and assist in follow-up actions.
- Oversee hazardous waste operations, including labeling, segregation, and removal.
- Manage chemical inventory, including inputting new chemicals and removing discarded ones.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Assist lab personnel with routine materials testing procedures.
- Collaborate with internal customers to design and conduct high-temperature materials experiments.
- Experience with hazard identification.
- Experience performing inspections and audits.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards.
- Hands-on experience with equipment and machines.
- Good written and verbal communications.
- Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in Environmental Health and Safety field (or similar) or advanced Lab Tech experience by someone with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety practices willing to train in EHS duties.
