In this role, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for managing and supporting the automation and control systems to ensure minimal downtime and efficient operations. The engineer will also work on identifying and implementing continuous improvements to optimize systems and adapt them to changing process requirements. Support for capital projects may also be needed. All work must comply with FDA and GMP regulations.

responsibilities:
- Modify and develop Rockwell Automation PLC and SADA programs.
- Configure Rockwell VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
- Write technical documentation, including Functional Descriptions, Functional Specifications, and Test Documents.
- Create and modify electrical control system drawings.
- Perform control hardware firmware updates and manage firmware revisions.
- Maintain control software on all Process Automation PCs, including managing updates and maintenance agreements.
- Provide 24/7 plant support with a deep understanding of Perrigo Nutritionals' processes.
- Develop technical writing and documentation to communicate work progress, engineering analysis, regulatory compliance, and studies.
- Modify and generate databases as required for the system.
- Manage and generate extensive and detailed documentation related to project execution, including system design, programming, vendor/contractor management, equipment procurement, project scheduling, and budget adherence.
- Provide support during installation and startup phases of projects.
- Develop and optimize operation and maintenance procedures for instrumentation and control systems.
- Troubleshoot, resolve issues, and provide technical support for both new and existing systems.
- Develop validation documentation and implement validation plans.
- Continuously update knowledge of automation processes and related technologies.
- B.S. degree in Engineering required.
- 2 years of Automation Engineering and project design/management experience
- College graduates are welcome to apply.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, multitask, and prioritize under pressure.
- Adaptability to a changing environment, with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to develop and incorporate innovative concepts and technologies into functional processes.
- Proficiency in using and interpreting analytical techniques to verify or select alternate design approaches.
- Project engineering and project management experience is a plus.
- Preferred experience in application development and troubleshooting using Rockwell Automation and GE iFix SCADA systems, as well as standalone HMI applications.
- Preferred experience with SQL and SSRS.
- Experience with basic electrical codes and standards.
- Familiarity with machine safety standards.
