A Senior Structural Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. This role supports structural steel design for industrial projects, ensuring compliance, reviewing deliverables, and coordinating with teams using advanced design software.

responsibilities:
- Originate and check structural steel deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3D models.
- Review structural steel deliverables, such as drawings and 3D models, for accuracy and compliance.
- Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
- Track and report design quantities against estimated quantities.
- Participate in project design and model reviews.
- Engage in constructability reviews to ensure feasibility.
- Review and coordinate technical documents with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams.
- Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or
Associate degree (AA/AS) with 10-12 years of related experience, or
14-16 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Advanced experience with AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar software.
- Significant experience in structural steel design for heavy industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of ASTM, AISC, OSHA, and IBC codes.
- Understanding of construction materials, details, and techniques.
- Familiarity with procurement and control methods for bulk materials.
- Knowledge of technical responsibilities across multiple disciplines in facility design.
- Capability to independently execute detailed design drawings for structural systems of moderate complexity.
- Thorough understanding of engineering deliverables, including drawings and specifications.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, for resolving technical issues.
- Ability to resolve design challenges and provide direction to designers and drafters.
- Experience in structural steel design for nuclear-quality and safety environments.
- AA degree in civil engineering or engineering technology preferred.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or familiarity with process improvement programs.
