Growing company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of prior work experience in most of the following areas: electrical control systems design, PLC system design, PLC programming, HMI programming and electrical systems troubleshooting experience. responsibilities:
- Participate in the pre-sales effort by working directly with sales team and customers to identify scope of work and technical requirements
- Design control systems and control system safety circuits according to customer requirements
- Use your knowledge of commercially available hardware and software to research, evaluate, select and apply a wide variety of industrial control system components.
- Create bills of material for your designs including engineering and assembly labor time estimates
- Use AutoCAD Electrical to create enclosure and Backpanel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, conduit schedules, etc.
- Provide guidance to panel shop assemblers and perform in-house final testing before delivery.
- Occasionally provide installation, start-up, and technical support at a customer site
- Be a leader within our electrical design team by mentoring other employees, and providing solid engineering advice and guidance
- B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or similar) from an accredited program.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical to draw enclosure layouts and system schematics
- Minimum 5 years experience designing industrial control systems using PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC/Servo Drives, sensors, safety devices
- Ability to design, program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI hardware
- strong knowledge of electrical equipment and components used in automated machinery and industrial control systems
- Ability to program/troubleshoot Siemens, Modicon, Mitshubishi, KOYO, Unitronix, WAGO and other brand PLC hardware a plus
- Knowledge of UL508A control panel design practices a plus
- Experience integrating ABB or FANUC robots with PLCs a plus
