A Measurement Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. This role will design, develop, and implement control systems for measurement applications, supporting product development and manufacturing, while collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing technology transfers, and ensuring process improvements in a manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:
- Develop, assemble, and test control systems for measurement applications supporting product development and manufacturing.
- Manage the transfer of technology from the lab to manufacturing environments.
- Design, build, and test electrical control systems tailored for measurement development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, Quality, IT, Purchasing, Operations) to implement control solutions for measurement and instrumentation systems.
- Partner with external suppliers for system integration and key technology implementations.
- Define Scopes of Work, conduct competitive quoting, issue purchase orders, track supplier progress, and approve invoices.
- Design experiments, analyze data, and implement improvements for measurement systems and production processes.
- Create and update production documentation, including machine specifications, operating procedures, and drawing packages.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with tools and measurement instruments for building and debugging mechanical, electrical, and optical systems.
- Ability to select and specify commercial standard electrical components.
- Programming experience with PLCs, Motion Control, LabVIEW, or Microsoft Visual Studio (C#).
- Proficiency in design tools like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Data retrieval, plotting, and analysis expertise (primarily using Microsoft Excel).
- Control system development, including electrical layout, wiring, and component selection.
- Experience with electrical, optical, or mechanical installations, system checkout, and troubleshooting.
- Laser system experience.
- Expertise in motion control integration for imaging platforms.
- Knowledge of process engineering, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency in MatLAB, Python, or similar data manipulation software.
