A Project Engineer is needed for a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation with core manufacturing concentrations in weapons and military and commercial electronics in the Windsor Locks, CT area. This role combines project management and technical expertise to lead teams in maintaining space suits for the ISS, supporting astronaut EVA training, and delivering high-reliability components through cross-functional team coordination.

responsibilities:
- Plan, propose, and execute space flight hardware projects.
- Control team activities, project scope, and schedules.
- Manage and control cost accounts.
- Conduct project kickoff, design, and status reviews.
- Resolve challenges related to design, procurement, assembly, testing, and delivery.
- Coordinate and lead multi-functional teams.
- Drive team meetings and ensure closure of action items.
- Initiate and coordinate engineering changes.
- Conduct root cause investigations.
- Support the engineering chief as requested.
- Communicate directly with customers
- strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work as a cross-functional team leader.
- Technical experience in engineering and life support systems.
- Capability to manage projects producing highly reliable components for extreme operating environments.
