A Category Manager is needed for a utility holding company in the Henderson, CO area. This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for critical, high-impact categories, managing supplier relationships and contracts, mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement while mentoring associate managers.

responsibilities:
- Drive category strategy for multiple complex, high-impact categories.
- Monitor industry trends and supplier risk profiles to update strategies.
- Plan and lead competitive sourcing events for targeted spend categories.
- Qualify, evaluate, and select suppliers to meet business requirements.
- Develop supplier relationship management efforts to improve cost, quality, and delivery.
- Create performance-based scorecards to monitor and evaluate supplier performance.
- Resolve disputes with suppliers and negotiate favorable outcomes.
- Lead contract negotiations and establish agreements that align with category strategies.
- Review, analyze, and negotiate contract changes and additional work orders.
- Manage contractor claims to minimize cost and schedule impacts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft® Office suite and significant experience with purchasing and sourcing systems is required. Demonstrated customer service skills.

- Frequently required to attend meetings.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent experience required.
- 5 years sourcing, purchasing or logistics experience.
- Two years plus contract formation knowledge and experience, negotiation and project management skills preferred.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred.
