An Incident Investigator is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Port Arthur, TX area. The Incident Investigator is responsible for implementing and managing safety programs, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce safety management programs, ensuring adherence to environmental, safety, and health standards.
- Lead investigations into environmental, safety, and health events to identify root causes and contributing factors.
- Observe and assess worker performance in the field to identify deficiencies and coach for compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Identify, measure, and report on trends impacting site safety performance, utilizing statistical analysis for continuous improvement.
- Work directly with project-level functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to facilitate, investigate, and analyze incidents.
- Participate in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
- Prepare communications, write reports, and maintain records for program execution and compliance.
- Research complex issues and provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain, explore and discuss safety issues with range of stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of best professional ES&H practices in conducting accident investigations, compliance audits and project health surveys.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously as a subject matter expert in the field of Root Cause Analysis.
- Proven ability to operate effectively and work collaboratively in a complex integrated organization.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, engineering and construction systems, principles, and methodologies.
- Prior training and experience in formal root cause analysis methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in ES&H, Management or related science/engineering discipline and
- 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- 5 years practical experience as a Root Cause Analyst in a large construction, operating, or governmental organization is required.
