responsibilities:
- Review the electrical distribution systems design, specifications, and cost estimate prepared by Architecture Engineering firm for technical adequacy and to comply with NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 101 (Life safety code), NFPA 110 (Standard for emergency and standby power system), and Unified Facilities Criteria.
- Prepare electrical engineering design drawings for commercial and industrial construction projects. This includes medium voltage and low voltage electrical distribution systems, lighting, generators, UPS, and telecommunications systems. Design shall be in accordance with National Electrical Code, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
- Assist contracting officer's representative to identify deficiencies requiring correction and recommend acceptance of complete work.
- Conduct field investigation to verify existing conditions and apply to design for renovation projects.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations which include load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, voltage drop, demand loads, lighting, ASHRAE 90.1 and energy density calculations.
- Review preliminary construction documents for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations.
- Serve as the Facilities Department's technical consultant concerning electrical aspects of energy conservation and new construction and repair projects, including investigation, criteria, design, construction, implementation and fuel utilization.
- Performs construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports.
- Develop the Scope of Work and Construction Cost Estimate.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to the Sustainment and Asset Management Division (SAD) on technical problems encountered during operation and maintenance activities.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
