A Test Manager is needed for an American defense, aviation, information technology, and biomedical research company in the Newark, NJ area. This role involves defining and managing comprehensive test strategies, processes, and training while leading large-scale QA efforts, communicating risks and issues to leadership, and providing technical guidance for testing and requirements management, with a focus on collaboration and quality assurance excellence.

responsibilities:
- Understand business functionality and define an overarching test strategy.
- Develop a comprehensive test plan that encompasses the entire system, application, or product.
- Create and maintain standard IT testing and test management processes and procedures.
- Establish test policies to define acceptable levels of testing based on risk vs. cost-benefit criteria.
- Develop and maintain requirements management processes and procedures.
- Design and maintain staff training materials for test and requirements management processes.
- Conduct staff training sessions on test and requirements management processes.
- Communicate effectively with senior management and executives about program/project risks, issues, and escalations.
- Provide consulting support to project teams for test and requirements management.
- Thorough knowledge of QA/testing techniques, processes, and practices.
- Experience planning and leading QA efforts for programs or large, complex projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of the system development life cycle (SDLC).
- Proven ability to manage large, complex testing efforts across multiple departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and leadership communication.
- Ability to support the gathering and creation of accurate and complete test materials.
- strong business analysis skills to capture scenarios and translate them into test cases/scripts.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 6 years of experience as a test manager.
