A Senior Structural Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. This role involves planning, coordinating, and conducting engineering work within a global business unit, applying engineering techniques, managing complex design issues, leading teams, and ensuring project success while utilizing CAD/CAE tools and industry standards.

responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts independent engineering tasks requiring judgment in selecting and adapting engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Coordinates and schedules detailed phases of engineering work, often in one discipline within a global business unit or project.
- Resolves complex design challenges, including conflicting requirements, unsuitable materials, and coordination difficulties.
- Prepares specifications, bid evaluations, and equipment award recommendations.
- Coordinates engineering efforts across various groups, including clients, suppliers, contractors, and different engineering disciplines.
- Manages technical issues related to constructability and design reviews across multiple departments.
- Uses current CAD and CAE applications for design work.
- Understands construction practices, economics, and regulatory codes and standards.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Works independently with general instructions and receives guidance for complex problems.
- Provides technical direction to subordinate engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Contacts vendors, clients, and project personnel to exchange information.
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university and
- 12 years relevant experience.
- Preferred experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in various market segments.
