A Mechanical Drafting/CAD Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. The role involves assisting a global drafting team in creating, revising, and managing 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk tools while adhering to company standards, with a focus on converting legacy designs, correcting redlined drawings, and supporting engineering and production teams.

responsibilities:
- Assist in creating, revising, and storing electronic drawing files for custom-designed process equipment.
- Work as part of a global drafting department supporting Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing locations worldwide.
- Use Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software to create or edit 3D models and associated drawings.
- Ensure all work complies with company drafting standards.
- No new design work is included in the scope of this position.
- Correct redlined models and drawings based on feedback from the drafting lead or engineering teams.
- Convert legacy hand-drawn or AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associative drawings.
- Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models provided by other users.
- Gather data from engineering teams and incorporate it into appropriate drawings.
- Collect measurements and information from the production floor to integrate into drawings.
- Candidates should possess one of the following qualifications (other technical degrees with relevant drafting skills may also be considered):
- A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- A.O.S. in Drafting/CAD.
- Drafting Certificate or Certification.
- A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Candidates without degrees must demonstrate:
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Drafting/CAD Technician or in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the mechanical drafting field.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software.
- Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.
- General computer skills in a Windows-based environment.
- strong attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to adapt to company standards and guidelines.
