responsibilities:
This hands-on job involves installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and equipment. Work is performed in shops and (primarily) on-board customer vessels.
- Installs, maintains, diagnoses, repairs, and overhauls marine diesel engines and equipment.
- Produces written and electronic reports
- Responsible for the proper use, maintenance, and cleanliness of company and customer-furnished equipment
- Applied knowledge of engine design and operation
- Applied knowledge of marine applications and propulsion systems
- Moderate knowledge of engine diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
- Applied knowledge of electrical/electronic systems maintenance and repair
- Applied knowledge of control systems configuring and operation
- Ability to travel frequently (>70%) domestically and internationally
- High school diploma or GED required
- A minimum of five (5) years experience as an engine mechanic
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in marine applications is required
- Current ASE Certification - A1 Engine Repair or the ability to obtain
- Current ASE Certification - A9/H2/S2/T2/T6/L2 Diesel Engines or the ability to obtain
- Other Certifications recommended: CAT, MTU, CUMMINS, PERKINS, VOLVO PENTA, or MAN
