A Materials Buyer is needed in the Gloucester, MA area for an American corporation that supplies equipment, services and software for the manufacture of semiconductor chips for electronics, flat panel displays for computers, smartphones, televisions, and solar products. The Materials Buyer is responsible for procuring spares and parts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery by utilizing SAP, Teamcenter, and engineering specifications to support manufacturing and engineering teams.

responsibilities:
- Perform direct purchasing of spares, parts, and materials to meet operational needs.
- Access and interpret detailed part drawings and specifications to communicate requirements to suppliers.
- Create and manage purchase orders (POs) in line with supplier lead times (LT) and approved pricing.
- Provide suppliers with the latest drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Manage supplier order delivery schedules and ensure timely updates in SAP.
- Track supplier deliveries using established order management processes and procedures.
- Support Engineering Change Notification (ECN) implementation and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
- Follow up on outstanding goods receipt (GR) and invoice receipt (IR) discrepancies.
- Proficiency in SAP and Teamcenter for procurement and inventory management.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- strong knowledge of material types and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in supplier management and procurement.
- Familiarity with BOM structures and cost-reduction practices.
