A Controls Engineer is needed for a global power leader in the Columbus, IN area. This job designs, integrates, and manages industrial automation and IIoT systems, ensuring seamless connectivity, data exchange, and troubleshooting while driving digital transformation and maintaining compliance.

responsibilities:
Industrial Automation & Control Systems:
- Identify machine controllers (e.g., Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Beckhoff, Rexroth) and select protocols and compatible OT hardware.
- Understand controls architecture, including ISA-95 architecture.
- Document AS-IS processes and TO-BE states for controls implementation.
- Create technical documentation (e.g., system designs, integration plans, user manuals).
- Program and configure control systems (e.g., Siemens PLCs, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Mazak CNC controllers, Fanuc controllers).
- Integrate machine controllers with IIoT systems and automation stack levels.
- Manage IIoT projects from planning to implementation, ensuring timely completion.
- Integrate tightening tools (e.g., Atlas Copco, DC tools) and robotics (e.g., Robots, Cobots, IMRs, AGVs) with IIoT platforms.
- Apply expertise in protocols such as OPC UA/DA, MQTT, REST API, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Profibus.
- Configure and troubleshoot OPC Servers (e.g., Kepware) for machine-to-IIoT data exchange.
- Utilize knowledge of industrial networking protocols and fieldbus systems.
- Configure IPs, routing, VLANs, and network security to ensure secure IIoT deployments.
- Drive Industry 4.0 initiatives, including IIoT solutions and digital transformation programs.
- Apply knowledge of data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI) and AI/ML technologies.
- Analyze and resolve communication issues between machines, PLCs, and IIoT systems.
- Conduct root cause analyses for network and connectivity failures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot IIoT deployment problems.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering, control systems engineering, automation, instrumentation, mechatronics, computer science, or related field.
- 5-6 years of experience in industrial automation, IIoT systems, PLC programming, and IoT integrations.
- Data governance principles, management frameworks, and compliance standards.
- Change management and stakeholder management in large-scale organizations.
