A Designer is needed for a utility holding company in the Maple Grove, MN area. This role manages distribution design projects for commercial, industrial, residential, and internal customers, ensuring cost-effective, compliant designs while coordinating with construction teams, securing permits, and serving as the primary customer contact.

responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for customers throughout the design process.
- Manage projects from initial customer contact to post-project analysis.
- Develop construction work plans that meet customer schedules, design requirements, and budget constraints.
- Design safe, cost-effective operating facilities according to company construction standards.
- Ensure compliance with administrative instructions, regulatory requirements, and technical codes.
- Secure permits and easements as required by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Execute contracts and agreements following company policies and regulations.
- Represent the company in interactions with government officials, contractors, city agencies, vendors, architects, and engineers.
- Provide work clarification for construction personnel and coordinate between construction teams and customers.
- Familiarity with GIS, design software, work management programs, and related systems is desirable.
- Understanding of construction standards, materials, and technical codes is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of Associate.
- Degree in one of the following fields of study: electronics, mechatronics, engineering, GIS, other related field of study.
- In lieu of an Associate Degree: a combination of education and experience in design/drafting, construction, project management, or electronics providing equivalent knowledge.
