responsibilities:
- Guide junior engineering staff in designing water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and pipelines, with the ability to independently create design components such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), hydraulic profiles, and process/mechanical details.
- Take ownership of calculating treatment process requirements and specifying equipment needs.
- Initiate and complete engineering feasibility studies (EFS), engineering design reports (EDR), preliminary design reports (PDR), and 30%, 60%, 90%, and final designs.
- Provide detailed cost estimates for engineering design, equipment procurement, installation, construction, startup, commissioning, and ongoing operation and maintenance services.
- Independently manage vendors and oversee project schedules and budgets.
- Attend client meetings, leading and presenting technical portions to both peers and clients.
- Under the Engineering Manager's supervision, provide leadership and guidance for water/wastewater projects, collaborating with Project and Client Managers to deliver successful projects.
- Supervise the Water/Wastewater section staff engineer, including time and expense approvals, utilization monitoring, workload planning, performance reviews, and other related responsibilities.
- Partner with Project Managers to manage the financial aspects of water/wastewater projects and adjust staffing to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Work closely with staff engineers, engineering associates, and CAD professionals to prepare planning-level projects, including reports and technical documents.
- Collaborate with other design disciplines to offer integrated solutions and support business development opportunities.
- Perform QA/QC for both internal and external deliverables.
- Identify staff training needs and provide training in line with strategic objectives.
- Offer technical support, including engineering standards, specifications, best practices, and project management tools.
- Develop and review project scope and fee proposals.
