A Commissioning Engineer is needed for a leading manufacturing organization near Tupelo, MS. The Commissioning Engineer will oversee and facilitate the startup and commissioning of electrical and mechanical building systems. This role ensures that systems are tested, verified, and handed over to end users while maintaining compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The Commissioning Engineer will collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to drive project success and ensure system reliability.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience, along with strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. Extensive familiarity with safety procedures, industry codes, and standards (IBC, NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.) is required. The ability to effectively communicate technical information and manage multiple project commitments is essential. This is a long-term contract role.

responsibilities:
- Facilitate electrical and mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities
- Review product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, and contractor RFIs for compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to manage factory testing, delivery, installation, and system handover
- Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards, project specifications, and industry codes
- Support construction administration, including schedule coordination, quality confirmations, and utility outage planning
- Provide technical reports and field status updates to Project Managers and offer input to improve project specifications
