A great client is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their engineering department and mold shop with support from the Managing Director. This role will also support building facilities and machine equipment maintenance and operation.
Candidates must have expertise in PLCs, hydraulics, automation systems, and SolidWorks, with at least 4 years of leadership experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate will excel in team management, project oversight, mold design, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement. strong leadership, performance management, and cross-department collaboration skills are essential. Familiarity with robotics is a plus.

responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and optimal performance of building facilities, plant equipment, and molds.
- Utilize SolidWorks to design new molds and implement improvements on existing ones.
- Manage and coordinate external contractors, ensuring requisition approvals are in place and monitoring their activities, in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and Managing Director.
- Control and track costs for supplies, equipment, and labor hours in alignment with the allocated budget.
- Collaborate with the Accounting department to ensure capital projects remain within financial limits.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to achieve departmental objectives.Conduct performance evaluations in line with company standards, offering constructive feedback and setting improvement goals.
- Delegate tasks, projects, and special assignments, setting clear, achievable goals for direct reports.
- Recommend salary adjustments and merit-based pay increases based on performance reviews.
- Mentor and coach team members to foster continuous growth and development.
- Review resumes, conduct interviews, and collaborate with Human Resources to ensure the selection of the best candidates.
- Establish role requirements for new hires and design effective onboarding programs to engage and integrate them.
- Identify training and education needs for direct reports to ensure ongoing effectiveness and personal growth.
- Create and maintain a skill-tracking system for team members.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Take on additional duties as assigned by leadership
- Bachelors Degree (Mechanical, Electromechanical, or other related fields), or comparable technical training.
- strong working knowledge of PLCs, hydraulics, automation systems, and design software, SolidWorks
- Four years of experience in a similar engineering management role, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring direct reports while fostering an environment of continuous growth and development.
- Ability to effectively manage capital projects, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and budgets are met.
- Knowledge of robotics is desired but not required.
- Fluency in hearing, reading, writing, speaking, and typing in English with a high level of articulation.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, and safely lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment at times.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
