A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Richland, WA area. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing fluid and gas systems for waste treatment facilities, developing P&IDs and equipment specifications, performing engineering calculations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

responsibilities:
- Design fluid and gas systems for Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) process facilities.
- Prepare technical reports, studies, and design documentation, including calculations using engineering software.
- Develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID) and equipment data sheets that meet design and nuclear safety requirements.
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and clients during design development.
- Collect and incorporate process, safety, and other system requirements into system design.
- Specify equipment and components to meet applicable design and regulatory requirements.
- Work within a team environment to develop detailed system designs.
- Prepare formal calculations, equipment specifications, and piping diagrams for system design.
- Experience in P&ID development, fluid system design, hydraulic and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
- strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of corporate, industry, and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in process system design.
