Product Engineer needed for a client in the Murfreesboro TN area. . This dynamic role focuses on managing and improving the components and buying processes for our chillers and heat pump products. As a Product Engineer, you will have a hands-on and collaborative role working with the purchasing/procurement team, parts vendors, and learning the HVAC system design. Initially, this role will split time between the production floor and deskwork (50/50), with an eventual shift to more desk-based tasks and design responsibilities (80/20) as you grow into the role.

• Engineering Degree (any discipline) - Mechanical mindset preferred
  
  
• 1-3 years of experience in engineering, parts purchasing, or vendor management is a plus but not required
  
  
• Familiarity with parts, purchasing, and vendor relationships is helpful
  
  
• strong hands-on problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
  
  
• Charismatic with the ability to confidently interact with vendors and negotiate favorable terms

responsibilities:

• Managing and improving bill of materials for chillers and heat pumps
  
  
• Working closely with the purchasing/procurement team to coordinate materials and vendor relationships
  
  
• Engaging with parts vendors to ensure quality, availability, and cost-effectiveness
  
  
• HVAC system design learning and integration into product development
  
  
• Supporting 2D/3D design tasks as needed
  
  
• Conducting hands-on system testing to ensure product quality and performance

As the role evolves, you will take on more design and deskwork responsibilities, as well as managing key vendor relationships. This will also include negotiating bulk discounts and securing price breaks with vendors, so strong communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively are a must.
