A Electrical Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This role focuses on ensuring reliable electrical distribution by troubleshooting, improving processes, installing new equipment, and documenting electrical infrastructure while collaborating with teams to maintain compliance and safety standards.

responsibilities:
- Learn and understand electrical infrastructure and equipment functions in the assigned area.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical infrastructure equipment, systems, and processes to ensure uninterrupted customer supply.
- Develop and use project plans and timelines to achieve goals while maintaining safety and quality.
- Document repairs and changes made to equipment and electrical infrastructure.
- Identify critical spare parts to prevent extended downtime.
- Participate in Pre-Planning Activities (PPA) and electrical shutdowns.
- Troubleshoot to the component level when necessary.
- Work closely with union trades, subcontractors, and different organizational levels.
- Be a self-starter and stay motivated to complete tasks.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exposure to medium voltage electrical infrastructure systems.
- Compliance with plant safety requirements, OSHA, NFPA, and NEC guidelines.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required, including:
- Safety glasses
- Safety-toed shoes
- Hard hat
- Fire-retardant clothing
- Hearing protection
- Clean room attire (if applicable)
Education & Experience Requirements:
- BSEE or BSEET degree with a focus on electrical power and power distribution.
- Understanding of NEC, NFPA, and other relevant regulations for compliance.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience as a Co-Op and/or intern with electrical infrastructure equipment troubleshooting.
- Ability to use electrical test meters, PCs, and schematics for troubleshooting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.
- Takes initiative in uncertain situations and proactively addresses problems.
- Translates engineering solutions into requirements and process/equipment designs.
- Determines and recommends best solutions within site specifications.
- Completes assignments thoroughly and efficiently.
- Works well in a team environment, is a self-starter, and is results-oriented.
- strong communication skills to present information to project, department, and site leaders.
