Senior Project Manager to lead capital expenditure (CapEx) projects for a heavy industrial facility located approximately one hour southwest of Chicago, IL. This role is a contract potential temp-to-hire position for an experienced professional with a civil-structural background and an understanding of multiple engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate will have experience in the chemical processing or heavy industrial sector, demonstrating the ability to manage complex projects while ensuring safety, quality, budget, and timeline objectives are met. While a Bachelor's degree is not required, relevant industry experience is essential for success in this role.

responsibilities:
- Oversee the CapEx portfolio for at least one site, including project execution, forecasting, and reporting.
- Lead and manage multi-discipline engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with company objectives.
- Ensure project compliance with safety, process safety, and regulatory standards, maintaining strict adherence to industry best practices.
- Facilitate and contribute to the Front-End Loading (FEL-1 & FEL-2) phases of project planning, ensuring seamless engineering package handoff and approval.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk analyses, incorporating scope change management best practices.
- Civil-structural engineering experience is ideal combined with a broad knowledge across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, process, etc.).
- Approximately 10 or more years of project management experience within chemical processing, heavy industrial, or related environments.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering reviews and manage EPC contractors.
- Demonstrated skills in project risk analysis, contingency planning, and Gantt chart scheduling with critical path identification.
