Client is seeking multiple Preconstruction Project Managers to prepare onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects for construction. This role ensures that all required engineering, permitting, procurement, and interconnection processes are completed efficiently, allowing projects to proceed smoothly to completion.
The ideal candidate has a proven background in renewable energy project management, including engineering coordination, permitting, procurement, and contractor management. This position requires excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 6+ month contract, possible temp to hire opportunity in Austin TX or Chicago, IL.

responsibilities:
- Engineering & Survey Work: Ensure completion of geotechnical, civil, HV, PV, and BESS engineering for bidding and construction.
- Project Coordination: Work with development teams to complete topographic and ALTA surveys to advance engineering.
- Permit & Interconnection Planning: Develop a structured permitting plan and interconnection plan with internal teams to ensure project compliance.
- O&M Coordination: Define O&M facility requirements, establish initial spares lists, and integrate key project setup needs into the BoP scope.
- Procurement & Contracts: Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure the required documentation and scopes of work are available for bidding and contractor negotiations.
- Risk Management: Incorporate lessons learned into the BoP scope, derisk projects, and ensure smooth contractor mobilization for on-time delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy construction, engineering, and project management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
- Proven leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
