A Quality Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This role involves inspecting and evaluating metal components used in glass manufacturing, requiring expertise in welding, fabrication, metrology, and quality assurance to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.

responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in welding and fabrication of metal components and systems.
- Understand metal preparation and proper welding techniques.
- Conduct quality dimensional and visual inspections using metrology tools to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- Analyze geometric relationships and the impact of altering attributes.
- Collaborate with designers and the workforce to improve component quality and fabrication efficiency.
- Support safety initiatives and apply knowledge of industrial safety standards.
- Identify health hazards related to metal fabrication in an industrial setting.
- Solve process quality issues using scientific principles and methodology.
- Communicate professionally across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks/CAD.
- strong understanding of GD&T applications and principles.
- Attention to detail and disciplined approach to work.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation (e.g., specifications, design prints).
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred but not required).
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
