A Controls Engineer is needed for a global power leader in the Columbus, IN area. The Control Engineer will design, implement, and troubleshoot industrial automation and IIoT systems, integrating PLCs, robots, and machine controllers while ensuring secure network connectivity, data communication, and digital transformation in manufacturing environments.

responsibilities:
- Identify and configure machine controllers (Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Beckhoff, Rexroth).
- Develop control system architecture and integrate IIoT applications.
- Program and configure PLCs (Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley) and CNC controllers.
- Expertise in OPC UA/DA, MQTT, REST API, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus TCP/IP.
- Configure and troubleshoot OPC servers like Kepware for machine data exchange.
- strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols, VLANs, routing, and cybersecurity.
- Ensure secure communication between machines and IIoT platforms.
- Experience with Industry 4.0 solutions, automation stack, and data analytics (Power BI, AI/ML).
- Drive IIoT adoption and manage digital transformation projects.
- Perform root cause analysis on network, connectivity, and machine communication issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for IIoT deployment issue resolution.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5-6 years in industrial automation, IIoT systems, PLC programming, and IoT integrations.
