A Materials Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. The Materials Engineer is responsible for scheduling equipment, managing chemical use, supporting process improvements, and coordinating with technicians to ensure efficient lab operations and successful project outcomes in the CSM Ion Exchange (IOX) labs.

responsibilities:
- Schedule resources and prioritize activities for efficient delivery of customer samples, experiments, new product runs, training, and maintenance.
- Provide daily direction and communication to union process technicians.
- Track expenses and lead the selection of lab supplies.
- Train team members and develop training documents.
- Use PI Vision to monitor furnaces and analyze metrology results.
- Compare request inputs with IOX results to identify trends and insights.
- Resolve equipment, process, and training challenges.
- Drive process improvement and cost reduction efforts while ensuring compliance with systems and product requirements.
- Review and interpret technical documents.
- Apply scientific methods to solve lab issues.
- Write and execute DOEs (Design of Experiments).
- Communicate with product teams to understand business priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in creating presentations and spreadsheets.
- strong analytical skills, especially in MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate across cultures and work in teams.
- Effective multitasking capabilities.
- Prefer a 4-year technical Bachelor's degree,
- A.S. or A.A.S technical degree required.
- Prefer experience in development labs or process areas.
