The Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist is responsible for leading and implementing project specific safety policies and procedures and provide professional Safety & Health leadership to the project management team in a heavy construction environment. responsibilities:
- Lead and implement project-specific safety policies and procedures.
- Provide professional Safety & Health leadership to the project management team in a heavy construction environment.
- Administer the Safety & Health programs on field construction projects to ensure operations are executed safely.
- Manage the Site Safety & Health program deliverables as defined by Burns & McDonnell's Corporate Safety & Health Department.
- Respond to questions and concerns related to site-specific safety and health compliance in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Achieve and maintain the company goal of zero safety incidents.
- Conduct regular health and safety performance reviews, assessments, and document compliance with Corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and resolve actions causing work stoppages when there is immediate danger to life and health.
- Report and present work stoppage issues to the project management team and collaborate on practices to prevent future incidents.
- Consult with site personnel on Burns & McDonnell's Safety & Health issues and recommend best practices.
- Assess and implement corrective actions for Safety & Health issues before work begins based on policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Collaborate with client Safety & Health Department for coordination of preventative measures and maintain proper compliance with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives.
- Conduct Safety & Health walk-through assessments, review findings, document corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
- Compile safety memos, assist Site Management with safety awareness correspondence, and promote project safety goals.
- Lead, conduct, validate, and document Safety & Health training as needed.
- Review near-miss, property damage, environmental incidents, and accident investigation reports; recommend countermeasures.
- Recommend solutions to Corporate Safety & Health regarding project safety challenges and progress, ensuring high-level communication.
- Complete Burns & McDonnell Daily Field Safety & Health Report forms, maintain audit-ready safety records, and submit required documentation.
- Travel to various project sites as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
