responsibilities:
- Design and develop complete machines, mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for custom automation equipment, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate design concepts, create prototypes, and refine designs based on testing and feedback.
- Utilize advanced 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor within a Vault Pro environment) to create detailed models and drawings of mechanical systems and components.
- Work closely with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with automation controls for seamless operation and optimal performance.
- Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and technical analyses to assess the practicality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness of high-risk designs.
- Perform calculations for force, moment load, inertia, seal pressures, thermal loading, and other critical design constraints.
- Prepare clear and detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, spare parts lists, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Identify and resolve design and performance issues during prototyping, testing, and deployment of automation systems.
- Support project management efforts by assisting with timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery of designs that meet client expectations.
- Oversee and participate in equipment testing, ensuring all designs are thoroughly evaluated and meet required performance criteria before deployment.
- Recommend design enhancements, cost-saving measures, and innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and functionality of automation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, customer specifications, and company policies.
