A Electrical Controls Engineering Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This role involves hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and supervision of mechanical and electrical systems for production equipment.

responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
- Supervise and direct internal maintenance and external contract trades during equipment installation, demolition, testing, and debugging.
- Troubleshoot and perform process start-up, design, and documentation of Electrical and Controls Systems.
- Modify existing documentation to create complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specifications.
- Assess condition and usability of existing equipment with new installation plans.
- Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations.
- Provide second-level troubleshooting support, replacing defective components and executing changes in design to solve equipment/process issues.
- Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
- Assist in developing electrical installation checklists and schedules, and oversee their usage.
- Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and contract trades in equipment fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation.
- Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
- Oversee drafting services or draftsmen to resolve design issues by redlining existing schematics.
- Provide training to internal maintenance and contract trades on new equipment installation procedures.
- Analyze and improve equipment installation practices to enhance efficiency, specifically installation schedules.
- Education: AAS or BS in Electrical Engineering Technology or related fields (equivalent work experience may be considered).
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in a relevant role.
- AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, or BS Mechanical Engineering (equivalent work experience may be considered)
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience performing hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
- Experience in troubleshooting, process start-up, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment.
- Ability to supervise internal maintenance and external contract trades during all stages of equipment installation and conversion, including demolition, construction, testing, and debugging.
