Civil Structural Design Engineers needed in Chesapeake VA. This person will work on waterfront projects including docks, bulkheads and mooring balls or the roadway and civil infrastructure connecting the port areas to the roadway. Ideal candidates will have a bachelors degree in a related field, at least 13 years of relevant experience and be able to obtain an EIT or PE.

responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of detailed structural designs for steel and reinforced concrete structures, utilizing engineering calculations, structural specifications, and design information according to project standards and procedures.
- Oversee the full range of design tasks including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
- Lead structural design efforts on projects for industrial, manufacturing, and other clients, ranging from facility modifications to new facilities.
- Perform quality review of 2D drafting and 3D modeling tasks, ensuring designs meet engineering standards and procedures.
- Use prescribed methods and standard techniques for assignments, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches.
- Perform quality reviews of structural designs, sketches, and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
- Prepare structural calculations and review design codes and specifications related to structural design requirements.
- Design and draft structural elements and details, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Review design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Incorporate project schedules, budgets, and criteria into structural designs and layouts.
- Approve all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information, ensuring they are organized and well-structured.
- Train, mentor, and develop less experienced engineers and designers.
- Participate in marketing and client development meetings.
- Ensure the structural design QA/QC process is adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
