A Mechanical Project Engineer is needed for a multinational corporation that produces mirrors as well as a variety of construction, high-performance, and other materials in the Oxford, NC area. The Mechanical Project Engineer role involves managing equipment and installation projects in roofing manufacturing plants, requiring mechanical engineering expertise, project management skills, and experience in industrial environments.

responsibilities:
- Manage the development and safe implementation of equipment and installations for capital projects in roofing manufacturing plants.
- Report to the Sr Project Engineering Manager and support Project Managers in meeting project scope, cost, schedule, and communication goals.
- Assist in evaluating and developing capital packages, including design, procurement, contracts, budgets, schedules, installation, and commissioning.
- Create initial designs and detailed plans for assigned packages.
- Support senior project engineers on projects led by Roofing TIP or plant teams.
- Collaborate with the Technical Office to improve design performance and cost efficiency while ensuring safety and compliance.
- Perform technical calculations for design support and analyze project requirements.
- Assist in equipment startup and commissioning onsite.
- Ensure smooth project transfer to Operations, including documentation, training, and support materials.
- Mechanical engineering knowledge with a basic understanding of electrical systems.
- Advanced problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Project.
- Knowledge and practical experience in piping system design for continuous process manufacturing.
- Ability to read various types of engineering drawings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; technical degree considered with contractor experience.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
