A Mechanical Project Engineer is needed for a multinational corporation that produces mirrors as well as a variety of construction, high-performance, and other materials in the Peachtree City, GA area. The Mechanical Project Engineer will manage and support the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of equipment for capital projects at CertainTeed Roofing manufacturing plants, ensuring compliance with scope, cost, schedule, and safety standards.

responsibilities:
- Assist in evaluating and developing assigned capital packages, including design, capital requests, procurement, budget, schedule, installation, and commissioning.
- Create initial designs and layouts for assigned packages and expand them into detailed plans and drawings.
- Support senior project engineers on projects led by Roofing TIP or Roofing plant teams to ensure safe, timely, and budget-compliant installations.
- Collaborate with the Technical Office to develop efficient designs and processes considering safety, operations, maintenance, and legal compliance.
- Conduct technical calculations to support project designs.
- Promote continuous improvement in process plant design with the Operational Excellence Team and the Technical Office.
- Assist in the startup and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment on-site.
- Ensure smooth project transfers to the Operations team, including documentation, training, spare parts packages, and maintenance manuals.
- Maintain and communicate project status to align with company goals.
- Contribute to the design phase by providing relevant input.
- Mechanical engineering expertise with a basic understanding of electrical components.
- Advanced problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Skills in MS Project for project management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering field, open to technical degrees with contractor experience.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
