A Process Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Concord, NC area. This role will perform break source analysis, microscopy, and reporting to identify and reduce breaks while maintaining equipment and collaborating with microscopy labs.

responsibilities:
- Ensure daily collection, analysis, and identification of break sources with report generation.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment (microscope, lighting, etc.) for accurate analysis.
- Summarize break sources to distinguish between special and common causes.
- Attend project/production meetings and communicate requirements for break sample collection.
- Continuously improve troubleshooting checklists using microscopy analysis summaries.
- Train operations personnel on best practices for break end collection and handling.
- Participate in project teams to develop cost-effective solutions to reduce breaks.
- Estimate work timelines accurately and meet deadlines.
- Execute assignments independently in a team-based environment.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to company values.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- strong oral and written communication skills with ability to summarize results in reports.
- Knowledge of imaging software for capturing and identifying salient features.
- Knowledge of glass, ceramics, and process engineering basics.
- Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and measurement variability.
- Familiarity with fractography methods and break analysis techniques.
- Associate degree in Science or Engineering field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience with microscopy techniques, failure analysis, or material characterization.
