A Senior Product Design Engineer is needed for a world leader in medical devices that seeks to offer innovative solutions in neurosurgery, and reconstructive and general surgery in the Irvine, CA area. This position designs and optimizes high-quality medical devices using SolidWorks and GD&T principles while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, compliance, and innovation.

responsibilities:
- Create, modify, and update detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for medical device components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering to enhance product designs with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and compliance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Analyze and optimize designs to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance performance.
- Perform tolerance and assembly analyses to ensure proper component fit and operation.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including CAD drawings, design history files, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Ensure adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical and electrical engineers, manufacturing, quality assurance) and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Onshape).
- strong understanding and application of GD&T and DFM principles.
- Familiarity with FEA and other design analysis tools.
- Knowledge of materials used in medical devices.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Required training in 3D Solid Model CAD and drafting, preferably with SolidWorks.
- 8-10 years of product design experience for medical devices or similar products.
